a little history
Schapiros animates the Jewish/Eastern European flavors that have defined the area for over a century. The eaterys nostalgic-industrial ambiance was crafted with salvaged scraps and artifacts from iconic LES businesses, and the bar itself was partially constructed from reclaimed wood from Schapiros Winery.
Named after Schapiro's Kosher Winery, the last winery in Manhattan, this Lower East Side restaurant and cocktail bar serves New American cuisine with a distinctive Jewish tilt. Schapiro's offers brunch, dinner and late-night dining daily, plus unique specialty cocktails and a New Yorkcentric beer selection. The restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients, with the finds including Streit's matzo and Local pickles. As part of its mission to preserve the Lower East Side's history and cultural heritage, Schapiro's décor includes salvaged artifacts from former businesses in the neighborhood.read more...
